Two granite historic tombstones of buried Civil War soldiers is consumed by a massive live oak tree at the Chalmette National Battle Field, the site of the Battle of New Orleans Civil War. Visitors and boy scouts place American flags by the granite tombstones of fallen confederate soldiers from the Civil War. In this photo a oak tree over the years has consumed the granite markers The civil war site is on the national register of Historic Places. Because of the unfortunate event in nature and the oak tree maturing, historians did not want to disturb the resting grounds of the fallen soldiers.
