Zulu Grand Marshall lead the Zulu parade down St. Charles Avenue on Mardi Gras morning, it has always been tradition His majesty Rex awaits the procession of King Rex down St. Charles Avenue to greet his millions of spectators on Mardi Gras Day. The Zulu parade is famous for their beautiful designed feathered costumed and warrior painted faces and prized catch a gilded coconut. Years past the coconuts were thrown but they did injure spectators and an ordinance was passed they could only be handed down to the crowds below. The tradition of Mardi Gras begins 12 days after Christmas and Ends Fat Tuesday 12 midnight, Wednesday the day after Mardi Gras the beginning of the Catholic tradition of lent 40 days til Easter Sunday. At 12 midnight Tuesday New Orleans police officer on horse back head down world Famous Bourbon announcing the end of Mardi Gras. This photo was taken with a android smart phone, 5 pixels, manual settings. Slight colorization and cropping for composition.
