This newly Holly Fern unveils itself to the Spring Equinox in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Holly Fern plant is a favorite plant here in New Orleans, its leaves remain green year round and grow low shrub. The plant rarely freezes because its low growing to the ground. Homeowners plant this unique fern because of easy maintenance and are visible around oak trees, pathways around homes. In the spring the new fronds are protective by the hair like fiibers which protect the new leaves until the frond matures. This photo was taken with a Nikon 820 macro zoom manual settings.
