Description
This photo of a oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico is awaiting for the entire platform to be submerged and anchored to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. The legs of the platform are hollow to allow sea water to flood them and lower the platform for operations. In this particular photo if you notice the legs of the platform must be lower to the darker shades of the legs befor operations would be ideal for production. The ship in the background is an actual drilling boat with a drilling derrick. The boat drills deep into the floor of the ocean and a structure is secured to floor of the ocean and the platform is then position over it and oil production begins with drilling operations.
