Fats Domino, byname of Antoine Domino, Jr., (born February 26, 1928, New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.—died October 24, 2017, Harvey, Louisiana), American singer and pianist, a rhythm-and-blues star who became one of the first rock-and-roll stars and who helped define the New Orleans sound.
Fats Domino the renowned singer and piano player famous for his hit Blueberry Hill. His modest home is located next door to his studio home pictured.
During Hurricane Katrina the homes were consumed by flood waters to midway of the windows. Fats Domino stayed behind to ride the storm out and was rescued by helicopter from the rooftop of his home.
His famous piano which was also destroyed in the flood was restored and could be viewed in the Jazz Museum. Prior to his death in 2017 There was a report a hoax on the inner net claimed Fats Domino had died which was a false report.
