Description
This amazing photo was taken in the Historic Lower Garden District in the early 1980's. The home which is a historic architecture property ( A Grand Victorian) had been abandoned for many many years. The home was involved with litigation for years, and finally someone did buy the home and restored it to its original beauty. What is quite amazing is because of litigation it took so many years to resolve the issues with the home covered in vines. The neighborhood is part of the Lower Garden District Historic Association. A current photo will be visible in my gallery soon, a view 33 years later. The name of the vine is a Cat's Claw, it blooms yellow flowers and will take over even a house if you do not destroy it.

Greetings Leanne, thank you so much for viewing A House Is A Home Is A House Of Vine, it pleases me this photo appeals to you and I appreciate the generous comment, this actual house remained in the condition for many years surrounding some very upscale homes in the lower garden district of New Orleans, in my gallery there is a after photo when new buyers renovated the entire home. I can just image what may have been lurking inside this Victorian prior to renovation, Cheers, Michael Hoard

What an incredible and unbelievable capture Michael......well worthy of a photograph to say the least, but hate to think about the creepy crawlies that would have made this house it's home during it's period of abandonment......shudder! f/l/tw/fb/voted

Hello John, it is the jewel of the neighborhood now, thanks for the reminder, I had mentioned a while back I was taking a current photo. I just passed by the other day but did not have my camera, I was on my bike. The tree in the neighbors yard slightly visible in this photo has matured so I will have to take that into consideration for the vantage or perspective of the new shot. Thanks for viewing the V/F I appreciate that, Cheers, Michael

Dear Michael! This is such a wonderful photograph with so much meaning, emotion, nostalgia. The title is poetic and beautiful as well. The soft green color of life of the flowering vine is also beautiful. John 15:1, 5 - "I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman. ... I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing." F/V/T/G+/Pinned/DFM&N in May
