Description
Copyright Warning Do Not Alter My Photographer Notes: This macro of palm fronds was an interesting capture. Palm leaves extend from a trunk like and some get very long. When the new leaves reveal themselves a large cluster is located in the center of the plant. The new leave are somewhat yellowish. Due to the reflection of green from the mature leaves I used sepia tone application here. It gave the fronds a more pure beauty aspect to them. In the back ground are mature leave. The plant itself does not flower. The new plants can be found all around the base or upper part of the trunk. Usually when they remain attach the plant then has host smaller plants attached. Most owners of palm plants keep them pruned of new growth. Some homeowners prune and remove the dark green mature leaves and give them to there house of worships for the parishioners to have for Palm Sunday Services. Palm are a very hardy plant and can be grown in most temperate planting zones. I achieved this photo my moving the mature leaves aside. The edges of the mature leave are very prickly and can scratch you. When the newly formed leaves display them selves there is a fine pollen like residue on them. The final application of sepia tone created a frost like appearance to the new leaves. The palm plant is a very popular plant seen in most gardens throughout New Orleans, Louisiana
