Description
Whitney Plantation circa1790 enslaved worker summons bell, slaves out in the field cutting sugar cane were summonsed also used for an emergency, and church services, a historic sugar cane plantation located less than an hour west of New Orleans, Louisiana. Whitney Plantation is the only plantation museum in Louisiana with emphasis focused on the lives of enslaved people. On the plantation remaining are the original slave cabins, freedmen's church, a detached kitchen and out buildings. Also on the plantation are memorials built to honor the enslaved. Whitney Plantation has been host to many Hollywood movies productions.
