Whitney Plantation circa1790 Slave Quarter interior sleeping quarters. The bed was typical of a robe bed frame and straw matting used. A historic sugar cane plantation located less than an hour west of New Orleans, Louisiana. Whitney Plantation is the only plantation museum in Louisiana with emphasis focused on the lives of enslaved people.
This photo of two of the many slave cabins on the plantation. On the plantation remaining are the original slave cabins, freedmen's church, a detached kitchen and out buildings. Also on the plantation are memorials built to honor the enslaved. Whitney Plantation has been host to many Hollywood movies productions.
