Whitney Plantation circa1790 front view oak lined pathway facing the Mississippi River and River Road, a historic sugar can plantation located less than an hour west of New Orleans, Louisiana. Whitney Plantation is the only plantation museum in Louisiana with emphasis focused on the lives of enslaved people. On the plantation remaining are the original slave cabins, freedmen's church, a detached kitchen and out buildings. Also on the plantation are memorials built to honor the enslaved. Whitney Plantation has been host to many Hollywood movies productions.
