The women in the photo are Reeber's descendent of my Great, Great, Great grandfather who came to America prior to the civil war from Wootenberg, Germany he fought in the Civil War before he was even an American Citizen and became a citizen a few years after the battle. Last summer a courier who was visiting New Orleans, Louisiana hand deliever a copy I made of the original documents dated 1860's from Wootenberg, Germany granting his journey to America. The copy of the original document is now in the town hall where my great great great grandfather was born.

Thank you I have all the original photos taken they were given to me prior to my grandmother and her sister death. Having all the documents. If this is not Lake Pontchartrain which I am certain it is. It may be the Gulf Coast, And there brother in law my grandfather came to America in 1913, on the S.S. Celtic a year after the Titanic sank, he from from Roscrea Ireland, and the Celtic was built by the shipping line which built the Titanic the Celtic was Christened in 1908 I have photos of my grandfather and his friends dancing at the bow of the Celtic. All the elders on both sides have sinced passed away. When my father died after 911 he was the last living elder.

Artist's Description

The pose is similar to a European Painting. It was typical for locals to take a train which was named Smokey Mary to get to the lake. I spend many hours restoring the old family photos and making the sepia tones richer and removing imperfections on the origiinal photographs. A very interesting observation is earlier photographers had this unique technique of having the subject sit in a 3/4 view. This may have been to allow the best light on the subjects. Every photographer has his own individual way achieving the maximum composition at hand. Over the years I had noticed because I had reviewed the family photos I had tried different or usual compositions. I had also had my subject look away and it does create a sense of mystery to the overall appearance of th...
