: My deceased brother in law's best friend demonstrates the process of maintaining a bee colony and the production and extraction of honey from the bee flats. A smoker is used which calms the bees while extracting the flats. Bee keepers wear protective bee suits hat with netting. From my experience it does get a bit warm underneath the bee suit. This photo was taken in Robert Louisiana USA, The remarkable thing is from that experience is my fear of bees has diminished. I have reactions when stung by any bee but tolerate and minimal discomfort. It was quite a remarkable day. It is a lengthly process from collecting the trays and then extracting the honey from the combs, The honey extracted that day was very tasty. I am standing on the left holding a bee flat. Depending on the size of the bee farm or bee enthusiast you can make a nice profit by keeping bees.
