Description
This amazing and now rare photograph is an employee inside the pedestal appears to look like a mummy. The employee had on a white hard hat and white handkerchief around its face, the other workers wore black coverings over their face. Arriving early morning of the removal around 7 am workers did a test lift to examine the statue. TV reporters and newspaper reported were on the opposite side and while I was taking my images I noticed movement in the shadow of the base of the statue. No other TV or newspaper captured this because of the vantage point they were covering, I was the only person standing in my location. This photo one of a series included in a future book release "The Rise And Fall Of The Confederate Statues In New Orleans" all copyrights protected.
The window which an employee appears are located at the base below the statue north, south, east and west. A circular stairs is inside the entire pedestal to the windows. This now a rare and only photo in the world taken of the historic statue removal in New Orleans, I was the only individual in the surrounding area taking photographs, no one else would have see this because of the designated area which newspaper and TV reporters where covering the removal. The individual as soon as he appeared up to the window backed away and all throughout the day I watched and the individual did not reappear in the window.
