Description
One of a new series titled Graffiti, Social Messages, Signs, Decals, Speak Loud And Clear.
Upon returning to the city post Hurricane Katrina, this powerful message was handwritten by a local resident who did not evacuate from the hurricanes approach. The sign was written to deter any looting to his business. This sign was seen on national TV and also used on a national traveling tour of messages handwritten on signs and objects from aftermath of destruction involving the New Orleans Louisiana area.
A powerful reminder from post Hurricane Katrina which devastated New Orleans and the entire Gulf states. This particular sign was part of an exhibit seen both on national news coverage and part of a traveling exhibit which toured America. My thoughts go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Mathew along the eastern coast from Florida to North Carolina, may you all keep safe and have minimum damages to your homes. Your lives matter most in time of crisis to us all. This past September marked the 11th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the rebirth of one of America's most beloved and historic cities.
With the help from citizens across the nation and around the world and the resilience of its natives New Orleans was rebuilt and continues to thrive and welcome visitors to continue to experience its Architecture, Culture, Festivals, Food, Music and importantly its locals. as it was prior to Hurricane Katrina. Thank you to anyone who may have assisted in any way I am able to still call New Orleans my home
I was across the street and used my Olympus OM10 with zoom and auto settings.

Greetings Liesl thank you so much for viewing Sign of Distress Post Hurricane Katrina Message, it was quite unexpected as I came upon this sign it was historic like so many other disasters so many others have endured. It is unfortunate you have to heave a warning to protect your property during a time of crisis/ I am glad to know Mathew did not affect you as weather forecast had predicted, cheers from Nawlins, and Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, what a great capture of emotion and history! It's nerve-wracking to go through a hurricane. My friend on the east coast of Florida was supposed to get over 100 mph winds with Matthew recently, but thankfully the storm stayed east enough she only had much less, and no damage. We have been lucky here so far in Florida. l/f
