Description
This amazing photo of the traditional Mardi Gras flag flutters in the wind from the flag pole. The flag takes shape of majestic butterfly in flight.
This unique abstract photo of the official Mardi Gras Rex flag was taken on St. Charles outside my favorite coffee shop.
Rex selected the official Mardi Gras colors in 1872 to honor the visiting Russian Grand Duke Alexis Alexis Alexandrovich Romanoff, whose house colors were purple, green and gold. The 1892 Rex Parade theme "Symbolism of Colors" affirmed the colors' The Meaning and Origin of Purple, Green, and Gold in Mardi Gras
Purple Represents Justice. Green Represents Faith. Gold Represents Power.
This is the traditional flag which is hung from places of business, private home and from the homes of previous Mardi Gras Kings. This photo was taken with a Nikon 820 auto settings. telephoto zoom.

You have so many new images but this one caught my attention. Love the feeling of this flag free floating up there making a statement of its own.

Greetings Mary, thank you so much for viewing my gallery, as I was outside the coffee shop last year during Mardi Gras I sat watching the movement of the flag blowing in the wind. It compelled me to create a series. This is a creative abstract of subject and colors. I appreciate your generous observations and comments, Cheers, Michael Hoard Actor, Artist and Photographer.

This is a superb capture, not only of the flag itself, but it is a wonderful abstract. The colors against the sky are fantastic.
