Description
Copyright Warning Do Not Alter My Photographer Notes: This sepia tone of the original print makes for more surreal image. The Battle of New Orleans took place on the grounds of this magnificent structure. This beautiful plantation style home was built 18 years after the Civil War. The home was was constructed around 1833. This photo was taken with my Acer Lap Top Web Camera. The porch or gallery on the front and back were designed to keep the main structure cool during the hot summer months. Typical of most southern homes some have gallery or porches which wrap around the entire main structure of the home. These southern mansion were also quite cold during the harsh damp winter months in the south. The home has no interior furnishings. During Hurricane Katrina there was substantial flooding. The structure was repaired after the Hurricane.
