This amazing photo of Jesus on the cross is in the garden at St. Joseph Catholic Church, it was a brilliant sunny day, and walked in the garden and came across this statue above the rose garden. I applied photo shop zoom to give a surreal appearance. This photo was taken with a Nikon 820 macro zoom, manual settings.
An amazing story of this statue which I have always seen while visiting which is in the garden at the church had me in awe. When I returned home and enlarged the image I had noticed the hands were not nailed to the cross which I thought was unusual. There were no spikes as I had previous seen and taken photos before.
I called the church to ask question had they noticed anything different about the statue on the cross. The receptionist asked what was wrong and informed her the hands of Christ were nailed to the cross in the past and now they are not and are away from the cross and no spikes though the hands as I had always seen.
I was disturbed because I had noticed something had changed and never seen a statue of Christ on a cross and the hands were away from the cross. I was but on hold for a few moments and she returned and informed me she had the explanation. I was correct the original statue hands were nailed to the cross.
During Hurricane Katrina which struck New Orleans the original statue was badly damaged and the Church had replaced the original with an existing statue from within the church and because it was not the original which was secured to the cross. The only way they could secure the new statue to the cross was from the hip of the statue.
