The New Orleans Street Car line became also famous with the international author Tennessee Williams wrote his novel A Street Car Named Desire while living in New Orleans Louisiana
The New Orleans Louisiana Street Car is one of the oldest and continued operating electric transit cars running in the entire world. Originally operating in 1834, the New Orleans Street Car was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The street cars at one time traveled throughout the entire city, including famous Bourbon Street and Royal Streets.
