Description
Two workers dwarfed by the 20 foot plus statue of General Robert E. Lee appears to be giving the general a boot shine. At. approximately 6:03 this statue was the last of the four statues considered a nuisance for public viewing. It was reported over two million dollars of tax payers and private contributions was used to remove the 4 statues.

Greetings Steve, thank you for viewing Final Sunset Of General Robert E. Lee Statue, it pleases me this photo appeals to you and I appreciate the generous comment, and the L, Fav, also an added note, I too from my perspective thought it looked like a lynching. This image was taken perhaps within the last remaining hour or so of workers lifting the statue from the base of the monument. The approximate time was 6:03 central daylight sayings time in New Orleans. Due to the sensitivity to others and historic records slaves were indeed lynched I was informed by peers not to use the wording lynching for this particular image out of respect for opponents for and against the removal of the magnificent sculpture I avoided naming the photo The Lynching of General Robert E. Lee Statue. I appreciate the L, Fav, Cheers, Michael Hoard
