Description
This amazing photo was taken with my Olympus OM 10 auto exposure, ASA 400 kodak film, the lightning was low and caused the photo to blur and created the Mardi Gras madness effect. This is the Official bead tossed from floats on Mardi Gras Day, tradition King Zulu roll the streets from uptown on St. Charles Ave.
Rex, King of Mardi Gras must wait and allow King Zulu to proceed ahead of them, it is a tradition, regarless where the parade is King Rex Parade must wait. A long time tradition, King Zulu is famous for the coconut throws, years back they where thrown from the floats but now must only be dropped to the crowds, people who were not looking were seriously injured when the coconut was hurled and accidently hit you in the head. The two courts do meet the evening before, Lundi Gras a tradition which stopped and was introduced again years past. There is a huge Lundi Gras celebrations along the Mississippi River, King Rex and King Zulu meet and official declare the beginning of Mardi Gras, and end Fat Tuesday, at 12:00 midnight sharp.
