Description
This unique tradition is still being continued in some of the Mardi Gras night time parades. The unique torches would light the way for the floats traveling through the city. Parade goers would toss money out of respect for men who carried the heavy torches many miles through the streets. The occur when a tank filled with fuel drips down to the burners. A metal sheild would reflect the flames. The marches now follow behind the floats in some of the large Mardi Gras organizations.
