This image was just recently selected from the Editor's of The National Geographic Magazine as an editor favorite this photo among the 43,000 archival editor archival selected images. April 2017 This image one of 25 in my gallery at National Geographic Magazine at that time.
This dramatic and eerie photo of a neighborhood resident walking towards and observing a nearby house fire. I was many blocks away from the apartment complex I reside and heard the sirens from fire trucks as I got closer.
As I was getting closer to my city block apartment complex I saw smoke and thought oh no the complex is on fire.
I called a friend and he was at the nearby drug store and employees were telling him it was the complex which I resided. I continued towards the source of smoke many blocks away beyond the complex and took this dramatic image of the elderly gentleman walling along the sidewalk towards the source of the fire..
As I got closer I was relieved it was not my complex. I then started to follow the smoke and the actual fire was many blocks away from the complex I live. As I approached the area of the fire an art installation of just windows which is in my gallery. The smoke was very thick and noticed a half block away an elderly nearby resident walking towards the smoke to get a closer look of the source of the fire.
This image was darkened to reveal the shadows of the brilliant sun shining through the thick smoke. A striking photo journalist image.
